NHS Trust celebrating more than eight years of collaboration with DEOS Consultancy

Taunton, UK — 1st October 2026, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating more than eight years of collaboration with DEOS Consultancy Limited (www.ukdeos.com), leveraging advanced satellite connectivity to transform mobile breast screening across the region.

Operating four dedicated mobile mammography vehicles under the Pennine Breast Screening service, the Trust now screens approximately 1,000 patients every week while seamlessly transmitting high-resolution diagnostic images straight into the hospital PACs (Picture Archiving and Communication System).

The dedicated team of Staff screen around 50 patients per day on each vehicle across hospital grounds and remote, hard-to-reach community locations. By removing the dependency on physical hard drives and couriers, the DEOS integration has created a resilient, paperless operational model that delivers major staff efficiencies, substantial operational cost savings, and robust data security.

Bridging Remote Locations with Near-Real-Time Connectivity

Mobile screening units often operate in rural or network-congested pockets where conventional cellular signals are inconsistent. DEOS equips the Pennine Breast Screening fleet with high-bandwidth, resilient satellite and multi-network technology. This enables near-instant transmission of diagnostic mammograms back to clinical review teams at the central trust, regardless of where the van is parked.

Driving Clinical Efficiencies and Delivering Significant Cost Savings

The shift to an automated, paperless workflow delivers measurable returns across the service:

  • Staff Time Returned to Patient Care: Radiographers, assistant practitioners and clinical teams no longer spend valuable hours manually handling paperwork, or transporting external physical hard drives at the end of long shifts. Instead, staff focus fully on patient comfort and screening throughput.

  • Accelerated Diagnostic Pathways: Images reach PACS in near real-time. Radiologists and film readers can review and report on scans immediately, significantly shortening the waiting time for patients requiring follow-up assessments or peace of mind.

  • Elimination of Transit and Administrative Overhead: Removing physical media courier logistics eliminates courier fees, fuel expenses, and wear-and-tear associated with ferrying physical storage units between remote sites and the hospital hub.

  • Paperless Modernisation: The integration supports the NHS target for fully digital, sustainable community care, saving substantial administrative processing hours and printing costs.

Uncompromising Information Governance and Cyber Security

With sensitive patient health data transmitted over the air, data integrity and compliance are paramount. DEOS architecture guarantees end-to-end encryption across all data pathways in full alignment with the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and Cyber Essentials standards.

Eliminating physical storage drives drastically reduces the primary vector for data loss and physical theft. In tandem with DEOS’s built-in continuity and failover systems, the Trust maintains an unbroken audit trail for every patient scan, ensuring clinical governance remains uncompromised.

"Delivering preventative healthcare directly to community doorsteps is vital for early cancer detection," said Viv Barrett, Director, DEOS Consultancy Limited. "Over our eight-plus years supporting Pennine Breast Screening and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, our mission has been simple: eliminate technical friction so clinical staff can focus on patients. By replacing physical transport with secure satellite-to-PACS connectivity, we ensure that whether a screening happens outside a supermarket or in a rural village, the patient’s scan is securely with the reporting team in moments."
