Mobile Unit Connectivity Extends To Administration and Consultancy Roles
Taunton, United Kingdom, 28 January 2026 – DEOS Consultancy, a leader in secure mobile medical connectivity, is proud to announce its partnership with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on a pioneering new mobile health initiative. This innovative service features a bespoke dual-purpose mobile unit designed to bring vital diagnostic and clinical services directly into the heart of the Liverpool community.
The new mobile unit represents a significant shift in community healthcare delivery. One end of the vehicle is equipped with a state-of-the-art breast screening suite, while the other features a fully integrated clinical "hot desk." This versatile space allows a wide range of medical practitioners—including midwives, phlebotomists, and cancer care nurses—to conduct patient consultations, perform clinical tasks, and securely access or upload medical data in real-time.
Central to the success of this mobile hub is the technology provided by Taunton-based DEOS. Leveraging their proprietary DEOS Optima solution, the unit ensures the rapid, encrypted transfer of high-resolution digital imagery directly from the vehicle to the hospital’s PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). By utilising a hybrid of managed satellite and 4G/5G connectivity, DEOS eliminates the need for physical hard drives and manual data transport, significantly reducing the time between screening and diagnosis.
"We are thrilled to support Liverpool University Hospitals in launching this versatile service," said Viv Barrett, Managing Director at DEOS Consultancy. "By providing a secure, 'always-on' digital environment, we aren't just moving a breast screening unit; we are moving a fully functional hospital office into the community. This allows clinicians to spend less time worrying about connectivity and more time focusing on patient care."
The "hot desk" functionality transforms the unit into a multi-disciplinary clinical space. For example:
· Midwives can conduct community check-ups with full access to patient records.
· Phlebotomists can log blood samples instantly.
· Cancer care nurses can provide specialist support and update care plans on-site.
This project is part of a wider commitment to reducing health inequalities in Liverpool by making life-saving screenings and specialist consultations more accessible to underserved populations. With the DEOS infrastructure, the unit operates with the same digital efficiency as a fixed hospital department, ensuring patient data is handled with the highest standards of security and speed.
