TAUNTON, UK — July 24 2026, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust - has re-launched two advanced mobile breast screening vehicles equipped with specialised cellular data technology from local health-tech innovator DEOS Consultancy. The new rollout is transforming the speed and efficiency of the county’s vital breast screening service.

The service, anchored at the dedicated Breast Unit within Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, operates two mobile screening vans that rotate across Somerset. By bringing state-of-the-art mammography directly into local communities, the trust ensures that eligible women can access life-saving screening easily and conveniently, regardless of where they live.

Historically, mobile breast screening relied on the physical transportation of data discs or hard drives back to a central hospital hub to be uploaded and read by clinical staff. By implementing DEOS connectivity, Somerset Breast Screening securely encodes and transmits high-resolution mammograms back to the hospital’s Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in a matter of minutes over highly stable 4G, 5G, and satellite networks.

Musgrove Park Hospital was one of the very first units in the UK to pioneer and implement DEOS technology. Having reaped the operational benefits of secure, live data syncing for years, this latest vehicle rollout solidifies Somerset's position at the forefront of digital healthcare integration.
